If you name your Hotel ICON you can’t afford to hedge yourself regard! This is a name that demands to be lived up to and ICON’sstory is testament to the fact it does. The hotel in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, was designed by Terence Conran, Rocco Yim,William Lim, Vivienne Tam, Barney Cheng and Patrick Blanc, but ICON is far more than the sum of its names and design.
This is the world’s first fully integrated teaching hotel facility and an unrivalled showcase for Hong Kong’s culture. From the outset,General Manager Richard Hatter had a creative vision for ICON which is very much in evidence wherever you look. From thedesign elements to the seamless and anticipatory service culture the hotel exudes style and warmth in equal measure.
Starting from the ground upwards in 2009, Richard Hatter and his team spent sixteen months designing and building the ICONbrand from the original brand work that informed the name and the essential essence of the business, to the interior design andmenu briefs, visual identity, and individual development of all three hotel restaurants: Above & Beyond, The Market and Green.Hatter’s vision also drove the human capital service philosophy which encompasses the website, hotel brand book as well as themany, many guest amenities. This was a project where Hatter seamlessly integrated science, business, technology and education with art, culture and commerce.
